"A former Nelson man who says his health is failing after working with a toxic cleaning solvent in a West Coast mine is angry ACC has taken so long to agree to test him.

Michael Blincoe, 57, born and bred in Nelson, worked from late 2006 to 2009 at Doug Hood Mining on the West Coast as a workshop yardman and cleaner, where he used the solvent Tergosol A1 to clean and degrease large machinery such as bulldozers and diggers.

He contacted the Nelson Mail last month about his year-long battle against ACC's refusal to pay for further tests recommended by his doctors to determine if he had suffered from solvent neurotoxicity."
