Invite to participate in MCS research

Poster's Comment:  Pamala Reed Gibson (Pam) has only had a couple of dozen people respond to this survey.  This kind of research is crucial to us to determine the needs of those with chemical sensitivity. Pam has published some outstanding research in support of chemical sensitivity.  The survey can be completed online in less than 20 minutes.  I completed it in 10 minutes.  Pam is also willing to do a phone interview.  Her phone and email contact are below.  I highly encourage everyone who qualifies to complete the survey.  If you are unsure if you qualify, please call or email Pam.

In order to participate, you must have MCS and have requested assistance from a Center for Independent Living (CIL).  A CIL is NOT an assisted living facility.  Rather, it is a place where one speaks with someone for help and resources.  CIL's don't usually provide direct services, but they can make referrals and help clients talk through concerns and find solutions. You may have sought help with finding suitable employment, getting accommodations for school, or figuring out where you can find safe housing.  This is all the type of work that CIL's do.

"CENTER FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING‑ The term `center for independent living' means a consumer‑controlled, community‑based, cross‑disability, nonresidential private nonprofit agency that is designed and operated within a local community by individuals with disabilities and provides an array of independent living services."

Invite to participate in MCS research regarding the Centers for Independent Living

In effort to study and improve services to the chemically sensitive, Dr. Pam Gibson and her students are seeking persons with chemical sensitivity that have requested help from a Center for Independent Living (CIL). The study will take approximately 20 minutes to complete and is accessible through Dr. Gibson's research site at http://www.mcsresearch.net.

You can also access the survey directly on Websurveyor at
https://websurvey.jmu.edu/ss/wsb.dll/40/mcsperspectives.htm.

We would be grateful for your participation. If you have attempted to access a CIL and are willing to participate, but unable to complete a study online, please contact us for a paper survey or a phone interview.
