"November 5, 2011 Author and early pioneer activist for airline passenger safety, died in New York City following a brief illness. She was 67. For over 20 years, Diana steadfastly advocated for passengers' right to nontoxic conditions aboard airplanes. Her 21-year career as an international flight attendant was cut short in 1987 when she was medically grounded with injuries from unregulated pesticide spraying in aircraft cabins. In 1992, she published the best-selling book Jet Smart which exposed the previously unknown health hazards of flying and forced government mandated changes in airline policies. Diana was born in NYC in 1944. She graduated from Boston University after spending a year at the Sorbonne in Paris. She lived in Hawaii for 23 years before moving back to Manhattan in 2007. Diana was well-known for her wit, her charm and her lifetime love affair with writing books, teaching seminars and dancing the tango."
