Petition takes aim at chemical drift

Petition takes aim at chemical drift

"Amid concerns about children, EPA urged to enforce buffer strip for applications near homes, schools and day-care facilites Mary Granneman used to call her children inside the house when farm fields surrounding her Bartonville home were sprayed with chemicals. These days she calls her grandchildren inside when chemicals are applied to the fields."

"It's a promise that might become enforceable by law. Several days ago a petition was filed with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency asking for an immediate ban on most farm chemical applications in a 60-foot buffer strip for ground applications and a 300-foot buffer strip for aerial applications around homes, schools and day care facilities."
