"SYDNEY'S air pollution could boost the chances of developing childhood asthma, especially if children are already genetically predisposed to it, a study has found.  Researchers at the University of NSW have conducted the first study on the effects of Sydney's air pollution on the development of asthma.  Their study found pollutants in the air damage developing airways through oxidative stress, which can then cause an allergic response when combined with exposure to allergens."
