"Santa Cruzans are putting their wallets where their bullhorns once were. Having helped win a key concession from state regulators on SmartMeters, more than 700 county residents have decided to pay for older analog power meters rather than opting for newer wireless technology. The number leads all counties — second place doesn't even come close — and comprises about 16 percent of such utility customers statewide."
