"In this month's news, NIEHS announces the launch of the Gulf Study and joins sister agencies in support of the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves. NIEHS/NTP Director Linda Birnbaum testifies on Agent Orange and is one of four scientists briefing Senators and Representatives on endocrine disruption.
Awards go to grantees Frederick vom Saal and Michael Karin; trainee Barb Kowalcyk; NIEHS scientists Joan Packenham and Retha Newbold; and authors of a paper from the Mitochondrial DNA Replication Group.
NIEHS celebrates its 225 postdocs on National Postdoc Appreciation Day, and two postbaccalaureate fellows begin their doctoral programs in epidemiology at UNC. Employees celebrate diversity with events honoring Women's Equality Day and Hispanic Heritage.
NIEHS holds major meetings on autism, BPA, and autoimmune diseases. Friends of Jenny Pronczuk de Garbino mourn the loss of a tireless advocate of children's health. Alternative testing gains momentum."
The mission of MCS America (MCSA) is to propagate medical, legal, and social recognition for multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) as a disorder of organic biological origin induced by toxic environmental insults; to provide support and referral services to the individuals with all illnesses of environmental origin; and to ensure that environmental toxicants are identified, reduced, regulated, and enforced through lobbying for effective legislation. © MCS America
